How it works
Every die you need
Pick a die type and how many to throw, then press Roll. You get each die’s result and the total. Rolls use secure randomness, so each side is exactly as likely as any other.
The standard set
- d4, d8, d10, d12: damage and effects in role-playing games.
- d6: the everyday die for board games such as Monopoly, Ludo and Yahtzee.
- d20: the main die in Dungeons & Dragons, for attacks and checks.
- d100: percentages, random tables and chance rolls.
With two six-sided dice, 7 is the most likely total (1 in 6), while 2 and 12 are the rarest (1 in 36 each). That is why so many board games are built around the number 7.

Frequently asked questions
Are the dice fair?
Yes. Each roll uses your browser’s cryptographically secure random number generator, and every side has exactly the same chance of coming up. Unlike physical dice, there are no worn edges or weighted corners.
What do d6, d20 and the other names mean?
The number after the d is how many sides the die has: a d6 is a normal six-sided die, a d20 has twenty sides. "3d6" means rolling three six-sided dice and adding them up. This notation comes from tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons.
How does a d100 work?
A d100 gives a number from 1 to 100, often used for percentages. At the table it is usually rolled as two ten-sided dice, one for the tens and one for the ones; here it is a single roll.
